10 Pro Wrestlers Accused Of Heinous Crimes

10. Art Barr

Art Barr's death in 1994 (at the age of 28) came right as he -- and tag team partner Eddie Guerrero -- were on the cusp of breaking out as pro wrestling stars. Following the highly-publicized When Worlds Collide Pay-Per-View put on by top Mexican promotion AAA (and featuring a classic Barr/Guerrero versus El Hijo del Santo/Octagon) match, the two grapplers -- known as "La Pareja del Terror," part of the stable "Los Gringos Locos" -- were in talks to join ECW. Reportedly, WWF, WCW, and New Japan also had interest in the pair. Less than three weeks after When Worlds Collide, though, Barr was found dead of what is believed to have been a drug-related heart attack.

This wasn't Barr's first attempt to hit it big, though. In 1989, Barr was working in Portland as Beetlejuice, a persona based on Michael Keaton's character in the eponymous film. During his run, he was accused of raping a 19-year-old woman immediately following a wrestling show.

Charges were filed, and while being tested via polygraph, Barr admitted that she did not consent to sex. Maintaining that she would have consented elsewhere, Barr believed he would have beaten the charges, but took a plea bargain to avoid jail time. He was soon hired by WCW (and worked as "The Juicer," playing the same character), but a faxing campaign over his conviction led to his dismissal.
