10 Problems With John Cena Vs. The Undertaker At WWE WrestleMania 32
10. It Would Overshadow The WWE Championship Match
My own money's on a Brock Lesnar/Roman Reigns rematch, but that's largely irrelevant. John Cena vs. Undertaker is a match that demands main-event status, and we all know how much of a stir is caused when any bout other than the WWE Tile match is placed at the top of a WrestleMania card. Opinions will vary on this, but I believe nothing should take precedence over a WWE Championship match at 'Mania - not even a potential Cena vs. Taker dream encounter. At the same time, it's hard to see either man backing down and accepting a lower position on the card. Between them, they've main-evented an astonishing eight editions of WrestleMania - just over a quarter of the current total. It could be argued that such marquee bouts can be used to make up for title matches lacking in a little star power, such as CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho at WrestleMania XXVIII. However, the long-term damage of devaluing the WWE Championship bout is still felt today; Roman and Brock aside, nobody in the current title picture has headlined a single 'Mania. Not enough stars are being created, and Cena vs. Undertaker at WrestleMania wouldn't help matters at all.
