10 Questions For Ken Anderson

3. Facing Abyss

AS: Your TNA debut was up against Abyss, and nothing against Abyss, he's had a great career and everything, but do you think that he was the right opponent for you to first take on?

KA: Yes, I love working with Abyss. The one thing that I will say that I disagree with, is TNA at the time brought in tons of stars from WWE, and everything was all a big secret. I remember the day of, they brought me to the hotel and had me stay there until 6:30, like right up to match time, and I snuck in the door at Universal Studios.

Abyss came to my hotel room during the day, and then the thing is they did the same thing with Jeff Hardy. They debuted him on a pay-per-view and they didn't tell anybody that he was coming. And I just think that's a huge mistake, especially when your'e trying to get eyes from WWE at the time, or anywhere else.

You know, Jeff Hardy was one of the biggest stars in WWE at the time and one of the biggest stars in the business, just to have him come over there, and the only people that see it are people who are already watching. Just seems silly to me. So that's the only thing they would have had some sort of hype or some sort of build up, say like 'this guy's coming.' WWE does those packages, they're so good at them, and they hype somebody coming so you want to see them. But yeah, Abyss was great. He was a phenomenal opponent.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
