He should be fine. There are obviously some NXT performers that have flopped on the main roster in the last year like Adam Rose, Bo Dallas, Emma and The Ascension, but Neville is more talented than all of them. He can do all kinds of great moves in the ring while also putting on some of the best matches in the company. If you watched him in NXT you know what he can do. Just because somebody else from NXT didn't connect when they called doesn't mean that Neville will fail. Look at Rusev as an example of a guy that had a very successful first year on the main roster. As long as they let Neville show off his athleticism and have competitive matches he's going to be a big star. That Red Arrow finishing move he does is phenomenal. WWE usually does a good job of establishing new finishing moves and making them a big deal, so he should win over fans just by doing that on a regular basis. By the way, removing the first name Adrian isn't that big of a deal. WWE seems to want their stars to have shorter names like Cesaro and Big E changing names last year. People will complain, but it's not some sort of major issue or something to get upset about.
