As revealed on WWE's official Instagram account (though not yet alluded to on television), Kassius Ohno has made a surprising return to NXT after his 2013 release from the Developmental Brand.

Regardless of any questions over his conditioning then and now, or the reasons for his departure and re-emergence, the immediate fact is that he's back in the fold, and if his brief interaction with Shinsuke Nakamura are anything to go by, is gunning for the NXT Title.

Similar to Hideo Itami, Kassius can feel aggrieved at missing much of NXT's golden era, but it's unlikely he won't want to be the star of the brand with this unlikely second chance.

Pushing Ohno right out the gate make sense too. As a heel or a face, an NXT redemption story (not one from the TV show...) can be told, with WWE able to use their own footage of a stripped back Full Sail in the early days playing host to his rivalries with Richie Steamboat, William Regal and The Wyatt Family.

Not just a viable opponent for either Nakamura or Roode as Champion, Ohno could just as easily slot in as an experienced hand in a feud with newer talents such Angelo Dawkins, Patrick Clark or Andrade Almas.
