10 REAL Backstage Wrestling Fights You Didn't Know About

7. William Regal Vs. Van Hammer

If you've only casually watched WWE and AEW, you might have been surprised to see William Regal installed as the spiritual leader, the da, of the Blackpool Combat Club.

Regal?

Yes, he shouted "WarGames!" quite loudly and sternly, but he was more likely to drink piss than to beat it out of somebody. That's how you get the punters to crack up, you see.

The amount of people who watched Regal potato Fit Finlay over and over again is low, but Regal didn't have a rep as a tough lad not to be messed with just because he worked a ridiculously stiff style. He underscored those credentials in a backstage fight many moons ago against Van Hammer.

At a Christmas party hosted by Diamond Dallas Page, Regal delivered some seasons beatings. He cracked Van Hammer with a headbutt so hard that it knocked him unconscious, and Page reckons that is because Regal resented Hammer's insta-push and sense of entitlement. Other online rumours suggest that Van Hammer buried the European style of wrestling.

In any event, Regal stuck the nut in and gave the boy a bloody good thrashing.
