10 Real-Life Wrestling Feuds That Played Out In Public
4. Ric Flair Vs. Bret Hart
Again, you really do feel as though Ric Flair and Bret Hart ought to be good friends. They both appear to be genuine wrestler's wrestlers; men who stood out less for a Hulk Hogan-like physique than they did their technique and work-rate in the ring.
But it turns out that they aren't. In his book, The Nature Boy derided Hart as someone who had only a fraction of his own talent, suggesting that the Canadian's inability to draw was behind WWE wanting to get rid of him in 1997.
That obviously stung a little, because Bret responded with a few verbal barbs of his own a short while later, claiming that Flair's matches were dull and repetitive, and that he basically used the "same routine every night" regardless of the occasion.
The thing is, they're obviously wrong. Flair and Hart are two of the best of all-time, and though neither are beyond reproach, it seems ridiculous to accuse either of them of lacking a nose for the business - especially when you're one of its greatest exponents yourself.
