10 Real Reasons Why Wrestling Fans Never Get What They Want

8. 'Trunks Mox'

In 2019, Jon Moxley arrived in New Japan Pro Wrestling. And was awesome.

He debuted a new, deadly ring style, which he has since refined and perfected. He was still a monster in that ring, chewing up foreheads and smashing people in the face with lariats, and he also debuted a new look to accentuate the act.

This version of Jon Moxley is known, affectionately, as 'Trunks Mox'.

Trunks Mox wore the same fit of trunks as MMA fighters, all black of course, since that is the perfect colour for a badass. This differentiated Jon Moxley from Dean Ambrose, which was crucial, since Dean Ambrose had become a joke in 2018. The striking new attire also visually conveyed Mox as a man who could have walked into the UWF-i and stomped everybody's teeth in.

He completed the look with a pair of sports sneakers, which was key. He didn't look like Ambrose, but he didn't look like a regular pro wrestler, either; he looked like a grappler, and it helped that he had some physique on him. The joke suddenly looked like the most legitimate player in the game.

As revealed to Renee Paquette on the Sessions, the sneakers were actually the problem, hence why he abandoned the look that very year (outside of Bloodsport); he only feels comfortable wrestling in combat boots, and they don't go with the trunks.
