10 Reasons 2022 Was Wrestling's WILDEST Year Ever

Say it with us: Had this been any other year, this easily would have been the wildest story of the 2022.

You seriously could not make this up: CM Punk regained the AEW World Championship and used his post-All Out press conference spot to trash the Elite and air his grievances three months before Festivus. This led to the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega confronting Punk in his locker room – details vary depending on which side is telling the story – and a fight broke out.

Punches were thrown, as was some furniture apparently. Somewhere in there, Punk’s dog Larry got involved.

The end result was Punk, Omega and the Bucks (who had just won the new AEW World Trios Championship) to be stripped of their titles and sent home. Jon Moxley was called in from a planned vacation to save the company, and new champs were crowned.

While the Elite have returned to action and are vying for the Trios Championship again, Punk is nowhere to be found, while rumors abound that he could wind up back in WWE in 2023. Talk about a crazy story in the making…
