10 Reasons AEW Fans Should Be Worried

A half finished belt, debuted in a difficult, pandemic era, the TNT Title was nonetheless booked well and treated with respect by the wrestlers who held it. Former title holders like Cody Rhodes, Mr. Brodie Lee and Miro really resonated as champions rather than simply midcarders with a belt. As a result, it genuinely felt like a prestigious prize, rather than just a midcard prop.

So many competitors have promised to bring the prestige back to WWE’s Intercontinental Title that it’s become something of a running joke. Sadly, it feels like the TNT Title has reached that dubious point in its history at an accelerated pace.

Subjected to sledgehammers and shagging, the belt isn’t treated with respect even by incumbent champions. Meanwhile, the booking has left fans with no one to root for in an overlong title programme, with thoroughly unlikeable characters on both sides.

An apparent attempt to course correct saw Tay Conti and Sammy Guevara turn heel and Scorpio Sky seemingly on the cusp of an organic face turn. Things were looking up, only for a pointless swerve to leave Frankie Kazarian flailing amongst heels on both sides of the ring in a messy PPV mixed tag. There’s a lot of work needed to get Sky’s title reign back on track.
