Fake or not, pro wrestling is gruelling, not just physically but mentally. You lack sleep from a tough travel schedule, you have to know your lines and perform on the mic as well as in the ring, you're under huge pressure to 'get over' with the fans, you've got backstage feuds to contend with...

It may look like to overgrown bulky men slapping each other to entertain the unwashed masses, but in reality, pro wrestling is not an easy career. You've got to have a strong backbone to do it, and we don't mean literally.

So that said, Punk has, arguably, proven he can deal with the mental pressure in this sort of venture. Yes, he walked away from the WWE, but he had his beliefs and stuck to them. Him breaking down mentally in preparing for his octagon debut isn't that likely.
