7. The Size Of His Ego
Theres a reason that a lot of people whove worked with Punk over the years have labelled him a pain in the *ss. In order to truly excel in the industry, you need to have a bit of an ego and a drive to the best in the world, if youll pardon the phrase. But theres a big difference in wanting to the best, and being convinced that you are the best and expecting everyone else to treat you that way. And if you listen to those whove dealt with the Straight Edge Superstar in the past, theres an opinion that his ego is enormous. Thats not to say that he hasnt earned the right to think so highly of himself; he most certainly has. Hes got a catalog of great matches and promos that any wrestler could be proud of. But a lot of fans, and more importantly Punk himself, have placed him on a pedestal alongside the all-time greats of the industry, and he just does not belong there. But the real problem in having an ego as large as Punks is that its hard for him to accept when he isnt positioned as one of the top stars on the show, as evidenced by his positioning at WrestleMania XXX being one of the rumored reasons for his departure. Wrestling can require performers to be very selfless, and if youre unable to do that without throwing a tantrum, youre probably better off staying home.
