If WWE putting it's mid-card championships on John Cena and Daniel Bryan is intended for the two veterans to act as gatekeepers to the top for ascendant talent, two babyfaces holding these roles means that ideally there will be two (or more)heels being elevated up the roster. Maybe the idea of turning Bryan heel allows for Cena to make new heels, which is something he's excelled at his entire career. As well, insofar as making new babyfaces, Bryan as a jerk of a wrestler who can also sell big for power wrestling babyfaces works, too.
