10 Reasons Fans Stick With WWE Through The Worst Of Times

1. Witness The Changing Of The Guard

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSC0DIJdGfc Often, when the WWE finds itself in a slump, big changes are on the horizon. When the company started to hemorrhage some of its biggest stars of the 80s, it must have looked pretty dire. When guys like Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage headed to the WCW, it left a big a big hole at the top of the card that needed to be filled. This was the catalyst behind the period known as the New Generation, which made big stars out of Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and others. If The Rock, Steve Austin and Mick Foley had never moved away from active duty following their run at the top, there wouldn€™t have been room for guys like Edge, Jeff Hardy, Eddie Guerrero and (for better or for worse) Chris Benoit to have their own respective title runs. While it may be tempting to declare that the WWE €œsucks€ in the wake of one or several top stars departing from the company, it€™s all part of the circle of wrestling life. The current state of NXT alone should have real WWE fans more than just a little bit optimistic about the future. In the past few years, some of the brightest young talent from the indies has been acquired and, barring some kind of unforeseen personal or creative disaster, these individuals will be the top stars of tomorrow€™s main roster. The September 8 episode of RAW featured a tag team match showing off the abilities of Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville and Tyler Breeze (as well as a revamped Tyson Kidd). The live crowd in Baltimore ate it up and the relatively brief match had the IWC drooling. Soon, fans will be getting much more of these guys. True fans know that when everyone else is saying that the WWE sucks, it€™s time to start looking out for those who will make the company great again.

I am a writer and stand-up comedian living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I didn't witness the Bret Hart screw job in person, but I did watch the Breaking Point PPV live and that was terrible it its own way. I am dangerously obsessed with professional wrestling and its surrounding culture. I am the current ring announcer for a local fed called the IWS. I got to introduce Tommy Dreamer a while back. My head almost exploded. I am a mark, and proud of it. I also co-host a podcast called Go Plug Yourself, which has featured quite a few local wrestlers and even Mick Foley. Speaking of the Mickster, I once got to be his warmup act when he was in town for comiccon. My head actually exploded that time. I've recovered... sort of.
