10 Reasons Fans Stick With WWE Through The Worst Of Times

5. Old Habits Die Hard

Any serious fan of any sport will regularly watch as much coverage of that sport as possible. Sunday and Monday football is such an institution largely because of the loyalty instilled in its fans. For Canadian Hockey fans, Saturday night is reserved for watching that sport. It€™s a simple fact of life for many. This too is the case for proper WWE aficionados. RAW has been airing every week, non-stop since 1993 and there are doubtlessly many out there who have loyally watched every single episode. Because WWE runs new episodes of Raw and Smackdown every week, it has the edge over other TV shows that don€™t feature nearly as much new content. And despite the recent branding of the September 8 episode of RAW as the €œseason premiere,€ there are, in actuality, no real seasons. Whereas dramas, sitcoms, reality shows and even other sports will have definite break periods between seasons, the WWE keeps going, ad infinitum. So even when it €œsucks,€ the WWE is always offering new, live television, catering to those most loyal of fans who keep tuning in because they simply know no other way of living at this point.

I am a writer and stand-up comedian living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I didn't witness the Bret Hart screw job in person, but I did watch the Breaking Point PPV live and that was terrible it its own way. I am dangerously obsessed with professional wrestling and its surrounding culture. I am the current ring announcer for a local fed called the IWS. I got to introduce Tommy Dreamer a while back. My head almost exploded. I am a mark, and proud of it. I also co-host a podcast called Go Plug Yourself, which has featured quite a few local wrestlers and even Mick Foley. Speaking of the Mickster, I once got to be his warmup act when he was in town for comiccon. My head actually exploded that time. I've recovered... sort of.
