When Kevin Owens gets into character, a character that is undeniably an extension of the man himself, he believes he the fine line between performance and reality evaporates. It no longer exists, which is a major reason for his success to this point. 

One of the biggest issues hampering so many of today's WWE Superstars is the fact that they come across as men and women role-playing. That is not an issue with Owens. Everything he does is so believable and everything he says can be taken at face value because of the conviction with which he speaks.
