10 Reasons We All Love WWE's Hell In A Cell Gimmick

5. Even In A PG World, It€™s Still Brutal

When the WWE went PG in 2008, it started with the Undertaker/Edge Hell in a Cell match. The blood made the Undertaker/Michaels, Batista/HHH, Michaels/HHH, and Lesnar/Undertaker matches that much more gruesome. In every cell since, there hasn€™t been any bleeding. But that doesn€™t mean the matches aren€™t still brutal. Of particular note is the John Cena vs. Randy Orton and DX vs. Legacy Cell matches from the first-ever Hell in a Cell Pay Per View in 2009. The big spot toward the end of the Cena/Orton match had Cena tied up in the ropes and Orton choking him for a good minute while the referee could do nothing about it because there was no DQ. In the DX/Legacy match, Triple H would up being locked out of the cage while the Legacy beat up on HBK for a while. Triple H and The Undertaker used tons of weaponry in their Cell match at WrestleMania 28. CM Punk ended up caning the hell out of Paul Heyman last year. Many wrestling fans would argue that blood would add to the matches, but the Cell still has a reputation for brutality.
