10 Reasons You Need To Respect John Cena

6. He Works Hurt

Yes, a lot of it has to do with WWE's attachment to him, relying on him when they should be focused on building for the future and grooming the "next John Cena", but damn, he comes to work and clocks in even when he's suffering from some major injuries. In the last few years, especially, it seems like he's always dealing with some sort of serious injury, but he continues wrestling and doing the same media schedule as always. Then, when he is forced to take time off, he returns way faster than normal, which is great for his fans, but it can't be good for his overall health. If he isn't giving his body the proper amount of time to heal, he's only asking for something else to break down as the rest of his body overcompensates for the original injured body part. The ironic part about him working through injuries is that, really, he doesn't have to. In pro wrestling, wrestlers often work through their injuries because they know being on the shelf could mean that someone else steps in and takes their "spot". However, if there's one person on the WWE roster who is exempt from that "rule", it's Cena. He could take a full calendar year off, starting tomorrow, and he would return next year in the same spot he's currently in, if not even higher after receiving the "triumphant warrior returns from a career-threatening injury" push and promotional hype. By all means, he should take the time off if he ever gets hurt again, but we all know that won't happen. It's not in his blood, and he'll be back on television without missing much time, if any, at all.
