10 Reasons No Way Out 2001 Is WWE's Greatest February PPV Ever

10. The Precursor To WrestleMania X-Seven

The greatest pay-per-view ever is debatable, with the NWA's Great American Bash 1989 getting heavy consideration among old school fans. For this writer's money, though, that show will never touch WrestleMania X-Seven. The grandeur, the hype, the quality of the matches, the conclusion of legendary stories and the epic main event pitting The Rock against Steve Austin came together to create the most complete spectacular ever produced by Vince McMahon. No Way Out set the table for that show. The importance of every match, the significance of every outcome was magnified as a result. So much of what happened on February 25, 2001 had a direct effect on the marquee matches of WrestleMania. Without the show accomplishing what it did, The Showcase of the Immortals could very well have been a completely different show than history dictates.
