10 Reasons No Way Out 2001 Is WWE's Greatest February PPV Ever
6. Fatal 4-Way Match For The Intercontinental Championship
Chris Jericho was a marked man heading into No Way Out, his Intercontinental Championship in the sights of three men he had been feuding with on-and-off for the last year. Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero and X-Pac were all determined to rip the title away from Y2J, getting the last laugh on a guy known for cracking jokes at their expense. All four were immensely talented wrestlers so the quality of the match should have never been in question, but like the show as a whole, no one expected it to be quite as good as it was. Even late-match interference from Justin Credible on the behalf of X-Pac did not ruin the quality and in the end, Jericho successfully retained his title. As was the case at the time, the stories meshed perfectly and the creativity of the Superstars led to colorful spots that popped the crowd and kept them invested in the action. What could have been "just another great match with those guys," instead was a first-rate example of how to bring together athleticism and storytelling to mold a near-classic.
