10 Reasons Not To Lose Faith In NXT

9. The North American Championship

Can you believe that the NXT North American Championship has been around for two and a half years now? Seven men have held the belt in that time, a veritable who's who of recent NXT lore covering everyone from Adam Cole to Ricochet to Johnny Gargano. Despite the quality of the men who have held the title, none have truly stamped their authority on its legacy, and the belt remains somewhat unestablished and in need of a defining reign.

The good news for NXT fans is that we may well find ourselves at the beginning of that reign right now. Damian Priest is the man in possession having won an excellent ladder match for the vacant title back at NXT TakeOver XXX, and the Archer of Infamy has been a great fit for the secondary title. It helps that Priest himself has blossomed in recent months, embracing the confident side of his gimmick in a new babyface role, and everything seems set for a title-defining reign that could go well into 2021.

Of course, a champion is only as good as his challengers, and the NXT roster is looking as loaded as it ever has. What it lacks in established main event stars it makes up in raw talent, and Priest will have no shortage of challengers over the coming months.

The North American Championship has scratched its way to this point. It is time for Damian Priest to make it shine.
