10 Reasons Not To Lose Faith In NXT

8. Different Styles Means Something For Everyone

In the build-up to NXT TakeOver XXX, a series of triple threat matches took place on NXT TV to decide who would compete in a ladder match for the then-vacant North American Championship. Those matches may have faded into lost memory already, but they were particularly notable for the weird clashes of styles that they all produced. Dexter Lumis vs. Finn Bálor vs. Timothy Thatcher?! Cameron Grimes vs. KUSHIDA vs. Velveteen Dream?! Weird.

What this shows is that, more so than any other show at the moment, NXT has a tremendously wide variety of styles and personalities on offer for its viewers. Want a modern take on American pro-wrasslin'? Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole have got you covered. Like big chunky dudes running over other big chunky dudes? Check out Bronson Reed. How about pure, unfiltered wrestling, with no bullsh*t? Timothy Thatcher is the personification of that. Trying to scratch that itch for a charismatic, sexy vampire man? Damian Priest, your time is now.

The women's division is just as varied, with everything from international stars to green-haired upstarts via technical geniuses, scheming manipulators and whatever the hell was in that letter Xia Li was given. NXT really does offer something for everyone, a variety show that harks back to the very reason pro wrestling came into being in the first place.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
