For the WWE, it's simple: they get a top legit athlete in the prime of her career involved with their company. Arguably the biggest they've had since Tyson or Mayweather (and Mayweather's involvement, in a boxing match with Big Show, really wasn't that great). For the UFC, they have a chance to engineer a Brock Lesnar from within. When Lesnar came to the UFC, he brought pro wrestling fans with him. When he left, viewership declined. The company has CM Punk as an ace in the hole, but he could flop. On the other hand, Rousey is already a success. If the UFC can sell her to the pro wrestling audience on the sly, they may actually lure in extra eyeballs in the end.
