10 Reasons Seth Rollins Is WWE's New Shawn Michaels

9. Turning On Their Friends

From a story point of view, the singles careers of Michaels and Rollins both stemmed from the same sort of angle. Michaels turned on his long term Rockers tag team partner Marty Jannetty in December 1991, super kicking him through Brutus Beefcake's Barber Shop glass window in an unforgettable segment. It instantly got Michaels over as this new singles star heel, and he went on to considerable success.
The same is true of Rollins. He shockingly turned on his long term partners in June 2014, smashing Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns with a steel chair. Like Michaels and the barber shop, it was an unforgettable segment. Rollins breaking up the beloved Shield faction, it instantly made him a top singles heel.
