10 Reasons Seth Rollins Should Leave Royal Rumble As WWE Champion

2. Taking Title Off Lesnar Months Before He Leaves WWE Is Smart

Brock Lesnar's WWE contract expires on the night after WrestleMania 31. His original one year deal in 2012 turned into a three year deal. As far as we know, he hasn't signed an extension and WWE may be unwilling to even offer a new deal because they are still losing money even with Lesnar under contract. They want to save money rather than spend it. Put yourself in WWE's shoes. If you know Lesnar is going to leave, why would you keep the WWE Title on him all the way until WrestleMania? What he did last year was a big deal, but it was also last year. It's important for WWE to think about this year and the future. It would be better if somebody else was in that main event match instead of Lesnar, who could potentially be fighting for the UFC in five months time. Do you think WWE is going to want to mention Lesnar on their shows this summer if he is headlining a huge UFC PPV? No. They're going to ignore him like they do CM Punk. Whether it's Reigns or Bryan that beats Rollins for the WWE Title at WrestleMania, what matters is that they can have rematches later in the year. That babyface will still have to deal with Rollins. If that face beats Lesnar, there's no rematch. Lesnar is gone and that opportunity is wasted. Suddenly the new champ looks weak because the guy he beat is not wrestling anymore. Lesnar can lose one his way out of WWE, but he doesn't have to hold the WWE Title. Rollins can win it and do more with it.
