10 Reasons Shane McMahon Vs The Undertaker Is A Mistake

7. The Cell Gimmick

The Hell In A Cell gimmick used to mean something in WWE, but the concept is now nearly twenty years old, and it has been badly over exposed in the modern era. WWE aren't protecting the gimmick, they're just further cheapening it by wheeling it out so often. Taker only competed in it a few months ago, and he lost that match, so it really doesn't make that much sense as a Mania booking. Of course, on April 3, everyone is going to be expecting Shane to do something off the roof. He's the daredevil high flyer... except he isn't. Like the cell, he is a relic from a bygone era. Both are likely to underwhelm in the shadow of expectation from their glory days. Out of all the gimmicks WWE could have booked, the cell was a mistake in putting further unnecessary expectation and pressure on Shane's return. The history of the bout is almost impossible to live up to.
