10 Reasons To Stick With NJPW After Wrestle Kingdom 12

8. NJPW Never Insults Your Intelligence

Ever felt short-changed, let down, or outright insulted by a wrestling promotion? If you've been following the sport for longer than five minutes, the answer is probably a resounding "yes."

Wrestling regularly takes its fans for granted. Companies spoil their biggest moments with bewildering booking choices, unnecessary melodrama, and insultingly stupid storylines all the time, but NJPW is a safe haven away from this. The promotion isn't perfect in this regard, but for the most part, they actually reward your patience rather than punish it, and will always treat you like an adult - not a child who needs everything dumbed down to the extreme.

New Japan do this through outstanding long-form storytelling, nuanced characters, and the application of common sense. Everything is done for a reason. Nothing is throwaway, and while certain booking decisions may seem confusing in the moment (Okada defeating Naito at WK12, for one), they usually make sense within the wider context of the story, though this won't become apparent until later down the line.

Your mileage may vary on some creative choices, but for the most part, NJPW specialise in delivering smart, logical conclusions to stories you've invested time, effort, and emotion in. They'll never hold your hand, but they won't slap it away either.
