10 Reasons Why Bobby Heenan Was The Best All-Rounder In WWE History

6. The Host

Rightfully lauded as one of the finest pairings in company history, the marriage of Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan as broadcast colleagues on Prime Time Wrestling, and later Wrestling Challenge and several pay-per-views was a joy to behold, right through to their tearful and carefully manufactured on-screen divorce ahead of Bobby's 1993 departure to WCW.

Many within the industry compared Heenan to prolific Tonight Show host Johnny Carson for his quick wit and convivial demeanour in a conversational format, with his immense talent resulting in a brief spell in which Prime Time's second hour was dedicated to a parody talk show vehicle that showcased his aptitude for proficient parley.

Though 'The Bobby Heenan Show' didn't take off as a longterm project, 'The Brain' himself remained at the front and centre of the weekly show for the remainder of its run as a precursor to Monday Night Raw despite two heavy-handed re-toolings of the format in 1991 and 1992.

A rigorous and robust defender of heels even when their actions were particularly reprehensible, Bobby was hilarious in his efforts, and every bit the weasel if suddenly confronted with a wronged babyface in the flesh.
