10 Reasons Why Dolph Deserved His Demotion
2. His Mic Skills Aren't Great
Ziggler isn't a terrible stick man - but he's far from brilliant. And, worryingly, he practises more than most with his stand-up comedy hobby.
The extent to which WWE promos are scripted is debatable. Scripts have been leaked in recent years which show that everything is laid out word for word - but there is surely scope for improvisation. You can tell which guys put their own stamp on things, and Ziggler doesn't seem to be one of them - or, if he is, his spin is equally generic.
Ziggler, as this promo demonstrates, just isn't a natural. You can clearly see him reaching for lines, being careful not to stumble, and noticeably repeating himself. If Ziggler thinks he's too damn good to be left rotting 'in the background', as he states here, he won't mind that promo being compared with this one, not that there's one to make.
Flair is lightyears ahead of Ziggler in the mic department. If the camera had have been trained on him for six hours, he'd have still been stylin' and profilin' in his inimitable and peerless way. Ziggler in his stilted interview looked to have ran out of words within a minute and a half.
