Nobody's quite sure how it's come to this, but everybody's glad it has. When reports confirmed Vince McMahon had trademarked 'Alpha Entertainment' for future business endeavours, people jokingly referred to the XFL as a potential motivation for the move. He was probably used to the derision - the XFL has been a punchline since it first collapsed in 2001.

Fuelled by ego and his robust belief that the landscape of the game and the media has changed significantly enough to make the most expensive failure since the Lex Express a success, Vince McMahon has given the world the gift of his madness yet again.

It's a win-win for wrestling fans more than it was during the tumultuous turn-of-the-millennium vintage. In the unlikely event that the reborn league is a success, then it will require Vince's guidance on a daily basis. This will bolt-open the doors to the kingdom for Triple H to triumphantly march through as many fans have requested for years. If it fails, McMahon's folly will surely impact WWE's finances for the worst despite his statements to the contrary. On previous evidence, this will have subversively improve the company's output.

Here's to the FOOTBALL~!
