10 Reasons Why Nobody Has Missed Randy Orton

5. His Promos Were Never All That Great

Again, the booking constraints imposed upon him are mostly attributable here.

WWE has an incredible amount of airtime to fill - and given that television revenue is their bread and butter, that isn't likely to change any time soon. The interminable fifteen minute promos synonymous with RAW don't really benefit anyone, least of all Orton, who is custom built for a pre-match blue screen interview with Gene Okerlund. Even Triple H can barely carry the Triple H Special.

Less is more, in Orton's case. His relaxed demeanour is easily confused with disinterest, and this feeling only intensifies the longer he's asked to drone on out there. In a transparent attempt to meet his allocated run time, Orton often loudly repeats sentences, which just adds to the malaise.

With some adjustments, there is scope for improvement, but the lingering memory of Orton's promos is of boredom, mainly. It's difficult to get hyped at the prospect of him promoting the Lesnar bout - even with Paul Heyman involved.

The Lesnar promo model would suit Orton, incidentally. Having the Viper spit venom over Kevin Dunn's peerless video packages would go some to accentuating the positive sides of his stick game.
