10 Reasons Why Nobody Has Missed Randy Orton
2. Even Commentary Has Been More Bearable In His Absence
Again, Orton can't exactly control what the commentators say. Even the commentators can't control what the commentators say - Vince McMahon infamously screams at them with such frequency that it's a wonder he doesn't bother to just do it himself.
Orton however has been so entrenched in his Viper persona that Michael Cole and JBL have long ran out of anything new to say about him. They are prone to repetition across the board - and this may be ageist, but McMahon's advanced years might have something to do with it - but never so egregiously than with the Viper.
JBL's favourite phrase, as if you need to be reminded, is 'If you want to build up a superstar from the ground up, he'd look like Randy Orton!'. Layfield has said that about Orton so often that it's destined to be carved on his headstone.
Cole, too, reserves his most grating 'Vintage!' voice for Orton, who doesn't particularly help matters by teasing his signature offence multiple times in any given match. Cole enters automaton mode to such an extent that he even drops 'RKO outta nowhere!' when Orton delivers it face to face.
The cliches are endless. Whenever Orton drapes an opponent over the ropes, you can be sure that Cole is ready to tell us all for the millionth time that Orton is 'hearing those voices again'. He's probably channeling Cole's voice to get in a more p*ssed off and lethal frame of mind.
