10 Reasons Why Seth Rollins Will Never Eclipse CM Punk's Success
9. Punk's Run As Ring Of Honor Champ Was Iconic...Seth Rollins' Was *Very Good*
In 55 days as Ring of Honor World Champion in 2005, CM Punk created a storyline that WWE successfully copied in 2011. In the 210 days that Seth Rollins (as Tyler Black) was ROH World Champion in 2010, Rollins had a bunch of amazing matches, but nothing in the way of the storyline drama that created real-life intrigue around the promotion. To break this down even further, in CM Punk needing less than 1/4 of the time holding the ROH Championship to elevate the entire company, it's all the proof needed to showcase just the kind of pro wrestler he was then, and the pro wrestler he was to later become. Similarly to his time in ROH, Seth Rollins has had a slew of amazing matches as WWE World Champion. However, in a time where pop cultural interest in pro wrestling is starting to bubble again, in being unable to balance being both a sports entertainer and wrestler, he's been unable to be the catalyst that the company needs to get ratings surging again. Thus, while it's nice that WWE is trying, the Rollins to Punk comparison is total horse sh*t.
