10 Reasons Why WWE's Stagnation Will Never End

6. They Can't Compete Artistically

WWE's competitors will never be able to challenge the promotion in business terms, but they have the company beaten on an artistic level. The smaller companies' viewerships pale in comparison, and they lack the resources to ever pose a threat to WWE on that level, but their content excels in ways the McMahons can never hope to better despite their huge financial advantage.

WWE's hefty restrictions means they'll never match NJPW in terms of in-ring drama. That's not to say the industry leaders don't produce great matches, but they certainly don't deliver with the same regularity or consistency. In terms of wild, outlandish storytelling, Lucha Underground have them trumped. For pure workrate and staggering athletic spectacles, there are companies like PWG, RevPro, and countless others.

The problem here is that the fans WWE might be looking to attract are already having their needs met elsewhere, stifling the company's potential for growth. Why would someone who prioritises great matches go to WWE over NJPW? There's no reason to do so, even if WWE adjust their focus accordingly, meaning there's little the company can do to entice these lapsed fans to return.
