10 Reasons Why WWE Live Event Attendances Are Shrinking
2. Misaligned Stars
Stars sell tickets, and WWE do a terrible job of building them. Brock Lesnar and John Cena are still around, but they'll be on their way out of the business sooner rather than later, and WWE have a huge problem on their hands when they eventually walk away.
The likes of AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura are great, but they're 40 and 37 years old respectively. Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns: all tremendous performers in their own right, but their star power and allure aren't even close to their predecessors'.
Aside from their well-known issues in building and maintaining legitimate draws, the company also have problems when it comes to pushing people the crowd actually want to see. Jinder Mahal has been WWE Champion for over four months now, but still isn't getting over with the crowd, while Roman Reigns remains 'The Guy' on Raw, despite his incurable popularity problem. Meanwhile, the likes of Styles are rotting in throwaway midcard storylines.
A wrestling promotion's main event scene should be its biggest selling point, and in pushing such an unlikable group, they've made it extremely difficult for their fans to justifying forking out for event tickets.
