10 Reasons Why WWE Peaked In The Year 2000

1. The Most Talented Roster WWE Has Ever Had

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJhjQRLTQA8 It's a bold statement to say that 2000 had the best roster that WWE has ever had, but when you look at the talent on the roster you realize how true it is. Here's a breakdown of how it looked. Main eventers: Triple H, The Rock, Undertaker, Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Cactus Jack. Those six were the ones that really carried the main events. Others popped up from time to time, but they were the top guys. It's an amazing group of talent. Midcarders: Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Kane, Big Show, Rikishi, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, X-Pac, William Regal, Tazz and many others. Look at how many of them were already World Champions or would become champions in the future. They were a group of guys that were the stars of the future in a lot of cases while also having great matches on a consistent level as well. Tag teams: Edge & Christian, The Hardy Boys, The Dudley Boys, New Age Outlaws, APA, Too Cool, Test & Albert, Right to Censor and more. The best tag team division they ever had. So much talent there. Plus, when some of those teams broke up some of the guys became top singles wrestlers too. They were only tag teams during this era. Again, it shows how deep the roster was. Divas: Trish Stratus, Lita, Ivory, Chyna Trish and Lita were fairly new. They were learning while WWE was building a very successful divas division that featured wrestling instead of having their women just working as eye candy. Authority figures: Mick Foley, Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Linda McMahon. It was all McMahon all the time! Probably the best collection of authority figures at one time. Even Linda McMahon was cutting promos during this era. Vince is the best heel ever. Foley was the best babyface authority figure. They were the right mix. A lot of credit for the strong roster has to go to Jim Ross, who was serving as WWE's VP of Talent Relations. He brought in the right kind of performers to help create a balanced roster full of wrestlers in their prime and stars on the rise. If Vince McMahon is ever asked what the best year was for his company, it's hard to know what he might answer. However, if he were to look at it from perspective of on screen product then his answer should be the year 2000. From top to bottom, it's been the best that World Wrestling Entertainment has ever been.
