10 Reasons Why WWE Peaked In The Year 2000

3. Triple H As The Best Heel And Overall Performer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVQR9Cs6If8 Triple H was the best performer in WWE in their best year as the unquestionable top heel in the company. It was the best year of his career at a time when they absolutely needed it. There was no doubt that he was going to be pushed as the top heel going into the year. It was just a question of whether or not he could up his game (no pun intended) to get to that next level. His feud with Mick Foley (as Cactus Jack) to start the year was incredible. Then they focused on his rivalry with The Rock, which was a follow up to what they did in 1998 when they were fighting over the IC Title. That lasted most of the year. He ended 2000 as the main rival of a red hot Steve Austin because Triple H orchestrated the attack on Austin a year earlier. Any time you can work with the three to babyfaces from the most successful era in company history and have great matches with all of them, you know you're doing an amazing job. As mentioned when talking about The Rock, the rivalry between these two is what 2000 was built around? Hunter was in his early 30s, so he was right in the prime of his career. In his personal life, this was around the time when he moved on from dating Chyna and started dating his future wife Stephanie McMahon. Is that the biggest upgrade in wrestling history? It might be. When you think about WWE as a whole in 2000, you can't do it without Triple H. He was the center of it all and to his credit when the pressure was on him, he delivered.
