10 Reasons WrestleMania 33 Could Have Been The Best Ever
7. It Could Have Been Bayley’s Night
Bayley is about half as over as she should be on the main roster. Vince doesn’t seem to get her appeal, and because of it he ran through her story without building up any anticipation to see her capture the title.
It all seemed so obvious from the start: Bayley gets called up to Raw, struggles to win her matches but always puts up a good fight. She then starts picking up some bigger victories along the way. Meanwhile, Charlotte is the most dominant woman the company has ever seen and goes right into WrestleMania with her pay-per-view streak intact. At the biggest show of the year, Bayley somehow overcomes all the odds, wins the Women’s Title for the first time ever, and delivers a truly memorable 'Mania moment.
Instead, that plan is long gone. Indeed, it seems there's been no real plan at all. Charlotte has lost the title so many times over the past year that it's hurt the prestige of the belt. Bayley beat the champ too many times in non-title matches to be believable. Charlotte’s pay-per-view streak has ended, and Nia Jax and Sasha have been needlessly added to the mix. It's a giant mess and it never needed to be.
Due to Vince’s view on women wrestlers over the years, there haven’t been a lot of truly memorable moments featuring female talent at 'Mania. Bayley and Charlotte could have delivered an all-time classic, but are now unable to because the boss lacked any form of patience over the past few months.
