6. NXT Has The Worst Men's Division In Wrestling
As a long time viewer and enjoyer of WWE's bronze medal show, it gives this writer no joy to lament the current state of the brand. But the fact is, as things stand, NXT would be better off jettisoning its completely useless men's division and focusing solely on its amazingly talented female roster. And to channel Becky Lynch, it's not just me saying that - it's Kevin Owens, as the Prize-fighter went on record to say "...the women of NXT are kind of whipping the dude’s asses right now as far as in‑ring work and performance.” (via Faces Magazine).
It's hard to argue against KO, with the recent Heatwave PLE offering the perfect example. Kendal Grey and Kelani Jordan's aforementioned bout was a Match of the Year contender, while the men scraped together a passable three-way bout that was the equivalent of staying in a two-star hotel - a perfunctory, adequate experience that you forgot about the second it was over.
Granted, the writing hasn't exactly helped the men (why bring in a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion only to have him lose - twice - to a half-blind opponent?). But the fact remains that the current NXT men's division looks less the future of the business and more like a vestigial, evolutionary dead end that could be removed without any lasting damage - the appendix of the WWE, basically.
