5. His Leaving Further Damages The King Of The Ring Gimmick
The King of the Ring tournament was once a prestigious part of WWE Pay-Per-View, but over the past several years, it's fallen off a cliff. In 2008, William Regal won the tournament and looked to be on a career-defining run, but a drug suspension put an end to his push and when he returned, WWE was reticent to use him the same way. Sheamus won in 2010 and began adopting a Celtic king gimmick, at which point he started losing all his matches. Barrett has suffered similarly since winning the crown last year. A feud with Neville saw the newly-crowned king lose match after match, and since joining The League of Nations, he's been relegated to the background. If Barrett - who's made the title of "king" part of his ring name - were to leave company, it would further ruin the once-honorable King of the Ring title. It is possible that WWE could hold another tournament after Barrett leaves in order to crown a new king, but odds are they'd rather let fans forget about his run first. As a result, the King of the Ring crown will be in limbo for another few years.
