10 Reasons WWE Royal Rumble 1992 Is Still The Best
9. Hulk Hogan Doesn't Win
He might be the guy ripping off his shirt at Trump rallies and having something of a loose grip on reality these days but there was a time when Hulk Hogan was the first person anybody would have thought of when they considered American professional wrestling as a whole. As such it was usually the main man himself that would be celebrating and posing in the ring at the end of each WWF show.
Hogan had won both the 1990 and 1991 Rumble matches and would have been on for the hat trick if it had been business as usual.
Hogan's wrestling popularity seen in the mid-eighties hadn't really carried through to the new decade. Added to this, he was starting to desire a career in Hollywood instead and even took time out to film such award-winning roles as Mr Nanny. Having Hulk Hogan winning a third Royal Rumble match in a row would have certainly sent the crowd home on a high but it wouldn't have meant anything long term. The '92 Rumble match was the first time it had actually meant something in the build towards WrestleMania, something that we take for granted now.
