10 Reasons WWE Wanted Rid Of Alberto Del Rio

6. He Had Wrestled Everyone Already

Is there anyone on the main WWE roster that you would like to see wrestle Alberto Del Rio who hasn't already? Now, with three-hour Raw episodes, as well as Smackdown, Main Event and monthly Pay-Per-Views, coming up with fresh match pairings is extremely difficult. For example, you want to keep the Roman Reigns vs The Authority feud exciting for a few more months, but you also want to keep certain guys away from him so they can have exciting programs together a few months from now. So, you end up with Reigns vs Kane every week. That's fine though, as long as the promise of something exciting is just out of reach. Reigns vs Orton and Reigns vs Triple H are both on the horizon, are both new matches, so fine. Every week though, when Del Rio's music hit on Raw, it came with a sinking feeling. Del Rio vs Sheamus, again? Del Rio vs RVD, again? How many times can Del Rio wrestle Dolph Ziggler before the memory of their incredible match at Payback in 2013 is complete erased? If you try and watch that Payback match on the Network it's all faded like the picture in Back To The Future, and that's because Del Rio and Ziggler just keep on wrestling each other. Sure, a finger must be pointed at WWE Creative. In the Roman Reigns example above, a slightly tedious match pairing is tolerated as it's part of a bigger picture. With Del Rio, there's no bigger picture. Still, after watching Sheamus vs Del Rio over and over and over (and over) for four full months back in 2012, the mere thought of them wrestling again two years later still sapped the energy out of a Raw episode. Maybe if there were a few more feuds on the cards, Del Rio would still be employed?
