4. The Crazy Guy Gimmick Has Never Got Over On A Main Event Level

Well, maybe Sycho Sid is an exception to this but the amount of really 'pet coon crazy' superstars that have sat atop of the ladder really makes for light reading. Dean is like the second coming of so many crazy men that failed to get that main event push. Maybe Vince McMahon just flat-out hates the gimmick at a real premier level. His record over the last 30 years of presenting mainstream entertainment would seem to suggest so. As a babyface, the current day main eventer requires you to be a role model. Just look at John Cena and his Hustle, Loyalty and Respect and rising above hate and walking elderly ladies across the road to see that in action. It's one of those things that is done to keep the string of sponsors WWE has happy. How does Dean's gimmick lend itself to that? "Hey kids! If you stay in school, you can grow up to be an unstable lunatic just like me!". Not the right message, is it? Maybe he needs to be a heel to really ascend to the main event, of course then you have the arguments for short-term booking and the like (which are discussions for another time).
