10 Regrets CM Punk Must Be Harbouring

1. Never Main Eventing WrestleMania

When you rattle off some of the most iconic Superstars in WWE history, almost all of them have probably been in the main event of WrestleMania (by "main event" we're talking the final match on the card, not a headlining match). From Hulk Hogan to Stone Cold Steve Austin to The Rock to John Cena, all the greats have had the honor of closing out WrestleMania, regardless of whether they emerged victorious or came up short. There are arguably a handful names who didn't deserve to be included in this elite group of legends such as The Miz and NFL star Lawrence Taylor. In fact, the list of greatest Superstars to never main event The Show of Shows is even shorter. CM Punk is among those who lead the list. Despite reigning as WWE champion for a historic 434 days, Punk never main evented a WrestleMania in his eight years with WWE. He's headlined The Show of Shows in matches with Chris Jericho and The Undertaker, sure, but never main evented. Punk has often expressed frustration with that in his past, specifically in his 2012 documentary when he said he should have faced John Cena at WrestleMania 27 instead of The Miz. Once it became clear this year that he was once again not going to be closing 'Mania, that's reportedly when he decided to call it quits. Obviously, there are plenty of other factors that led to his departure and Punk has yet to comment on the matter, but it's apparent he felt a match with Triple H at the event simply wasn't good enough. Needless to say, Punk should have been involved in at least one WrestleMania main event during his WWE tenure. Even if he were to ever return (which is quite questionable at this point), the chances of him finally earning that honor are fairly slim given the way he left the company. At least he'll be remembered as one of the greats who never graced the 'Mania main event, a list that also includes the legendary likes of Ric Flair and Eddie Guerrero, among others.
