Another 205 Live star who struggled a bit upon his debut is Hideo Itami. As a bland and generic good guy, Itami failed to impress many fans when he made the jump from NXT. Unfortunately, he’s also struggled with injuries since joining WWE, but has recently begun to find more solid footing after he turned his back on the crowd and his friends.

Now, Itami has been free to unleash his unparalleled kicks he’s known for on whoever he chooses. Though he recently lost a lengthy feud to Mustafa Ali, the months-long battle helped to re-cement Itami’s status as 205 Live’s fear-inducing bruiser. A match with Rey Mysterio could further establish Hideo’s unique skills as a no-nonsense tough guy who's not to be underestimated.

In fact, Itami’s preference for hard slams and bone-shaking strikes is reminiscent of another Japanese star from Mysterio’s past. In WCW and around the world, Rey frequently had lauded bouts with Ultimo Dragon. While Itami lacks the eye-catching attire, his unique brand of offense seems in direct succession to Dragon's. Perhaps, Hideo could prove a modern-era equivalent of one of Rey’s most respected and feared rivals if given the chance.
