10 Ridiculous Early Ring Names For Famous Wrestlers

9. Luke Harper Was Huberboy #2

Luke Harper started as a backyard wrestler along with his brother. The two put on masks and were known as the Huberboys...unfortunately for Luke, he was stuck with #2. They went with Huberboy, because "Huber" is their real life last names.

Harper competed with that name for a while, and took it along with him to the indy scene. After being unmasked, he switched over to Brodie Lee. While it seems that may have been a bit of an homage to his passing resemblance to wrestling wild man Bruiser Brody, it’s actually a mix of Jason Lee from Mallrats along with his character’s name in the film Brodie Bruce.

While Brodie Lee is catchy, he was re-branded Luke Harper in WWE, and has stuck with it ever since. Perhaps if he needs to be re-packaged, he can always have Huberboy #2 in his back pocket.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
