10 Ridiculous Early Ring Names For Famous Wrestlers

7. Asuka Was Skull Reaper

NXT TakeOver Respect Asuka

In Japan, the wrestler we know as Asuka went by Kana and worked for various Japaneses promotions, as well as a few independent companies under the name. It’s what she became a star with. And while both names seem to fit her fine, she had a more badass one for a bit when she was known as Skull Reaper.

It’s too bad that she couldn’t have used it as a nickname in NXT, but since it’s not a WWE creation that was unlikely. Her entrance could have been even cooler than her fake mask thing she has going, as when she wrestled as Skull Reaper, she would sometimes wear zombie like make-up along with more risque ring attire...which probably wouldn’t fly in the ompany.

Still, getting to wrestle as Skull Reaper for any amount of time is quite the career accomplishment.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
