6. w/Nigel McGuinness vs. Bryan Danielson & Takeshi Morishima (Respect is Earned)
When Ring of Honor made their first foray into Pay Per View (based off of taped shows; they wouldnt have their first live iPPV until December 2009 or their first real live PPV until a couple weeks ago), they began in a most unconventional way. The taping took place at the Manhattan Center, where ROH had sold the building out three previous times. What was unique about this show was that ROH sold out the building again, with not a single match being announced ahead of the show. The company had built up such a good rapport with the fans that the show sold out based completely off who would be there. And the headliner was KENTA. The match was actually booked as the show was being taped, similar to the traditional Smackdown method of seeing four men brawl in the ring to start the show, and making it a tag team match (playa). Much like the tag at Best in the World, each matchup (Nigel/Danielson, Nigel/Morishima, KENTA/Danielson, and KENTA/Morishima) told its own unique story and had its own background. The KENTA/Morishima interactions in particular were the highlight of the match. KENTA had only a handful of matches under his belt in Ring of Honor at that point. It says a lot about his drawing power that he could be announced as the headliner of a show that had no matches announced, and it could sell out the building.
