7. Alberto Del Rio Vs. Kalisto
Kalisto's shock victory over Ryback in the WWE Title Tournament sparked rumours of a singles push - with some even pigeon-holing him as the next Rey Mysterio. However, he was easily defeated in the next round against Alberto Del Rio, squashing any hopes of a miraculous run on the way to Survivor Series. At the PPV, however, things took a hopeful turn once more. The Lucha Dragon was one of three survivors in the main card's only traditional elimination match, after tag partner Sin Cara had previously been eliminated. WWE, forever in search of a top Mexican babyface, could well have decided that Kalisto is their man. His idea opponent for the majority of 2016? Alberto Del Rio. Although the US Champion's 'Mexamerica' gimmick isn't really catching on, a few tweaks could revert him back to the Latino aristocrat we all knew and loathed. Kalisto could then be positioned as the Mexican people's champion, a more humble, traditional luchadore, and eventually get the feel-good win over his adversary. Given time to work out the kinks, their matches turn out spectacular, too.
