Gunner Scott spent two years in OVW feuding with future stars like CM Punk and, uh, the Spirit Squad (hey, Dolph Ziggler ended up doing pretty well for himself). If you caught any of his work with the self-proclaimed Best in the World, though, you'll know it was pretty entertaining, and there's really no reason to think he couldn't have found success on the main roster.

Things just didn't go that way for him, though, even after a successful SmackDown debut which saw Scitt score an upset win over Booker T and receive an endorsement backstage from Chris Benoit. After his time on the blue brand ended with him being put in a body bag by The Great Khali, he found himself back in OVW just months after debuting, and was then released by WWE in October 2006.

Scott had a good look and the right build, and has since revealed that he has no idea why he was fired. Still, the first man to win all three OVW titles didn't do too badly in the years that followed because he had brief, but memorable runs in promotions like Ring of Honor and NWA (as Brent Albright) before making the decision to retire from in-ring action in 2011.
